Welcome to the Moby Project History Page

I should introduce myself first. My name is Horizontal Paul , and I am a disabled musician and writer.

My own project, The Horizontal Paul Music Project, founded the Moby Project as a totally independent concept a few months ago.

So what is the history behind MOBY?

This is the most exciting step that The Horizontal Paul Music Project has taken since it was first started three years ago..

I had always intended to start the Moby Project myself with any surplus funds after achieving the target figure I needed for my own medical treatment, but the project has gained such a great deal of interest that we have now launched the project officially.

In the early days I had such a hard time recording my music. I was having no problem getting my local radio station to play my music, but I had no way of getting the finished track recorded onto an acceptable format.

I remember connecting the output of my 4 Track into the mic input and using the cassette of my hi-fi system to make my first demo. The result was really rough, but I had no choice. I approached a company who was supposed to specialise in home recording, and was let down four times before it dawned on me they were never going to keep the appointments I was making.

I made a promise to myself then, that if it was possible, I would use any means available to promote the idea of creating a FREE mobile recording service for the disabled, so that nobody would have to go through the hardship I have gone through to make a demo recording....

The format requested by agent and record labels used to want DAT but nowdays its more than often a C.D.

The project should offer the client the choice of Cassette, C.D. DAT, and Minidisc formats.
